Community Impact Stories

DCCF loves hearing about the vital work happening in our community led by Douglas County nonprofits. If you are already a nonprofit partner and have received a grant or assistance from DCCF, share your "Community Impact Story" by filling out a questionnaire, HERE.

Below are some recent Community Impact Stories submitted by our nonprofit partners:

Help & Hope Center (HHC) is a nonprofit human service organization dedicated to providing assistance to people in Douglas and Elbert counties who are in serious economic need, at risk of homelessness, or in a similar crisis. HHC was one of 16 nonprofits to receive grant funding through DCCF’s 2024 First Cycle Community Grants program. This funding helped support HHC in delivering 73,063 pounds of food and $43,388 in clothing and household items to families and individuals experiencing financial distress, which is an average of 87 people per day. HHC served 31,819 people in 2024, with 98% being Douglas County residents.

Night Lights provides free respite care for children ages 1 month to 13 years old who have special needs and their neuro-typical siblings, helping parents or caregivers have time to refresh, regroup, and take care of themselves. Night Lights was also one of 16 nonprofits to receive grant funding through DCCF’s 2024 First Cycle Community Grants program. Part of the grant was used to host a completely inclusive Easter egg hunt for 27 children who have special needs. Watch a video of their event, HERE.
